It runs on a phone or\ntablet, takes cash and cards, and shares your products, customers and orders\nwith everything else in your account.\n\n## Install it and sign in\n\nSearch your app store for **Marketspread Point of Sale**. It runs on Apple and\nAndroid.\n\nOn first launch it asks for two permissions:\n\n- **Bluetooth**, to reach a card reader or receipt printer.\n- **Notifications**, so it can tell you when an online order arrives.\n\nSign in with your Marketspread account. If you signed up through Google,\nFacebook or Apple, use those buttons rather than a username.\n\n!!! important \"You need approval before you can take cards\"\n    Sign-in is not enough. Your account has to be approved to accept card\n    payments first.\n\n## Turn on Premium\n\nPremium lets you take cards at the booth, sell online with pickup and\ndelivery, and get top billing in search. You need it to ring up a sale —\nwithout it, Checkout stops you and asks you to upgrade.\n\nOpen the menu at the top left, then **Settings**, then **Premium**. Tap\n**Upgrade**, then **Pay $18 for the year** to turn it on.\n\n## Ring up a sale\n\nThe app opens on the cart.\n\n1. Tap **Add product** to add something from your product list, or\n   **Add custom item** for anything that isn't in it.\n2. Tap an item in the cart to change its quantity.\n3. Choose **Credit card**, **Audio Card Reader**, **Credit card (manual\n   entry)**, **Cash**, or **Check**.\n\n   ![The payment types offered after tapping Checkout](https://articles.marketspread.com/images/vendor-pos-intro/03-checkout.png)\n\nPaying in cash gives you quick buttons for common amounts, and works out the\nchange due.\n\nThen tap **Print receipt** or **Email receipt**. Printed receipts carry a QR\ncode that pulls the order straight back up.\n\n!!! note \"Printing needs a receipt printer\"\n    You have to connect a receipt printer first. See **Connect a printer**\n    below.\n\nTo start over, tap the menu at the top right, then **Empty cart**.\n\n!!! tip \"Pin what you sell most\"\n    On a tablet, tap **Pin quick pick** to keep your busiest products one tap\n    away. Press and hold a pinned product to remove it.\n\n## Add the customer\n\nTap **Select customer**, above the cart, to attach one before checkout.\nChoose **Select by name**, **Select by email** or **Select by phone** to find\nsomebody you have served before, or tap **Create new customer** and enter\ntheir name, email and phone number.\n\n![The customer picker opened from the cart, before checkout](https://articles.marketspread.com/images/vendor-pos-intro/02-add-the-customer.png)\n\n## Connect a card reader\n\nOpen the menu at the top left, then **Settings**. On a supported iPhone,\n**Tap to Pay on iPhone** is listed first under **Hardware** — it takes a\ncontactless card with nothing to plug in or pair, once your account is\napproved to accept cards. Tap **Bluetooth Card Reader**.\n2. Make sure it's on with its light blinking blue while it searches, then tap\n   its name once it appears in the list.\n\n   ![The nearby card reader found and ready to connect](https://articles.marketspread.com/images/vendor-pos-intro/06-card-reader-select.png)\n\nOnce it connects, it shows **Ready to Use** with its battery level and\nfirmware version.\n\n![The card reader connected and ready to use](https://articles.marketspread.com/images/vendor-pos-intro/07-card-reader-connected.png)\n\nThe **Audio Card Reader** plugs into the headphone jack instead of pairing\nover Bluetooth.\n\n## Connect a printer\n\nOpen the menu at the top left, then **Settings**, then **Receipt Printer**\nunder **Hardware**. It connects the same way as a card reader, without\nchoosing a type first.\n\n1. Tap **Add cash** or **Remove cash** as you go, and **End tracking\n  session** when you finish.\n- Your premium subscription and card payment approval.\n- Your online store settings, and any market stores you sell in.\n- Your default tax state and rate. A product taxed differently carries its own\n  rate.\n\n## Products, orders and customers\n\nEach has its own page in the menu, with a search box at the top.\n\n- **Products** — tap **Filter by categories** or **Filter by inventory** to\n  narrow the list, tap a product to edit it, or **Create** a new one.\n  Creating a product here lets you photograph it with the phone camera.\n- **Orders** — tap **Filter by status** or **Filter by delivery type** to\n  narrow the list. Open an order to see the receipt, refund it, or leave a\n  comment for the customer.\n- **Customers** — tap anybody to see what they have bought before.\n\n!!! note \"Online orders come to you\"\n    With an online store on, a new order raises a notification on your phone.\n    Tap it to open the order and accept or decline it."}
