A vendor looking for their booth, or a shopper looking for one, taps it and sees a dot for where they're standing. You turn it on from the **Layout Editor**, at **Event Configuration → Layouts**.\n\nThere are two ways to set it up:\n\n- Add a map background tied to a real address — the easier way for most markets\n- Add your own location points instead\n\n## Add a map background\n\nA map background already knows where it sits in the world, so once it's added, nothing else is needed to turn the location button on.\n\n1. Open **Event Configuration → Layouts** and open the layout you want to set up.\n2. In the toolbar, click **Add map background** (or **Edit map background** if the layout already has one). If the toolbar is too narrow to show it, open **More tools** first.\n\n   ![The Layout Editor's More tools menu, with Add map background](https://articles.marketspread.com/images/show-visitors-where-they-are-on-your-map/01-add-map-background-button.png)\n3. Under **Imagery**, choose how the background looks — **Street** works for most markets. Satellite photos and a few other styles are also in the list.\n4. Search for your market's address, or drag and zoom the map until your site sits inside the box.\n\n   ![Add map background, framed on the market's own address, with Street set in the Imagery dropdown](https://articles.marketspread.com/images/show-visitors-where-they-are-on-your-map/02-map-background-imagery.png)\n5. Click **Add map**.\n\n   ![The framed map, ready to become the background](https://articles.marketspread.com/images/show-visitors-where-they-are-on-your-map/03-map-background-add.png)\n\n![The layout with its map background in place](https://articles.marketspread.com/images/show-visitors-where-they-are-on-your-map/04-map-background-result.png)\n\n!!! note\n    The background has to cover at least 65 ft (20 m) corner to corner. A tighter crop is too small to place anyone on, and the location button stays off.\n\n## Add location points instead\n\nUse this when your layout has no map background, or you'd rather line the drawing up yourself.\n\n1. In the toolbar, click **Add location point**.\n\n   ![The Layout Editor toolbar, with Add location point](https://articles.marketspread.com/images/show-visitors-where-they-are-on-your-map/05-add-location-point-button.png)\n2. Drag the pin's tip onto a spot you can find in the real world, like a gate or the corner of the lot.\n3. In the panel on the right, type that spot's **Latitude** and **Longitude**. Or, if your device supports it, click **Use my current location** to fill them in from your phone's GPS while you're standing there.\n\n   ![A location point placed at a corner of the lot, with its Latitude and Longitude fields — or Use my current location](https://articles.marketspread.com/images/show-visitors-where-they-are-on-your-map/06-location-point-coordinates.png)\n4. Click **Add location point** again and repeat for a second point, at least 200 ft (60 m) from the first. Opposite corners of the site work best.\n\n!!! tip\n    Add a third point for a tighter fit. Two points are enough to turn the location button on. A third improves the accuracy, and catches a latitude and longitude that got swapped.\n\n!!! note\n    A layout with more than one **Area** needs its own map background or location points for each area. The ones you add only cover the area you added them to.\n\nThe **Location** panel on the right, visible when nothing on the canvas is selected, shows whether each area is ready and how accurate it will be.\n\n![The Location panel, showing this area is ready with its spacing and estimated accuracy](https://articles.marketspread.com/images/show-visitors-where-they-are-on-your-map/07-location-points-ready.png)\n\n## Test it before you publish\n\n1. Stand somewhere on site.\n2. In the Layout Editor, click **Show my position** near the bottom-right of the canvas.\n\n   ![The Show my position button, near the bottom-right of the canvas](https://articles.marketspread.com/images/show-visitors-where-they-are-on-your-map/08-show-my-position-button.png)\n3. Check that the dot lands where you're standing.\n\n   ![The dot landing where the manager is standing, among the booths](https://articles.marketspread.com/images/show-visitors-where-they-are-on-your-map/09-position-dot.png)\n\nIf it's off, add another location point farther from the others, or move a point that looks wrong."}
