You draw the\nplace — streets, buildings, grass, your logo — then add booths that vendors can\nactually be booked into.\n\nOpen **Event Configuration**, then **Layouts**, and click **Add Layout\nTemplate**. You can keep as many layouts as you like.\n\n## Name it\n\n![The empty canvas with the Layout Inspector open, showing Layout Name, Pricing Name and the Render Assignment Names, Redact Assignments and Hide Unassigned IDs toggles](https://articles.marketspread.com/images/full-map-creation-walkthrough/01-layout-inspector.png)\n\nIn the layout inspector on the right, give it a **name** and a **pricing name**.\n\nThe two are separate so the same drawing can exist twice with different prices\non it — one \"Summer Pricing\", one \"Winter Pricing\". They show as separate\nlayouts to pick from.\n\nThe other settings there:\n\n- **Render Assignment Names** — show the vendor's name in a booked booth\n  instead of the booth number. Most markets want this on.\n- **Redact Assignments** — keep who is booked where private.\n- **Hide Unassigned IDs** — show an empty booth as a plain outline, with no\n  number.\n- **Add Tax to Booths**, if you charge tax on booth fees.\n\n## Split a big site into areas\n\nOne layout can hold several areas, each its own canvas — an indoor hall and an\noutdoor street, say. You see one at a time instead of cramming both onto one\ndrawing.\n\nFind **Areas** under **Booths** in the layout inspector, click **Edit**, rename\nthe one you have, and add more. Switch between them from the same menu.\n\n## Draw the place\n\nAdd a line, square, circle or triangle from the top, then click it to open its\ninspector and set its color, its outline, or no outline at all. **Add text**\nlabels streets and buildings. **Upload** puts your own logo on the map, and\n**Element** has ready-made pieces such as trees.\n\nA few things that save time:\n\n- Hold **Option** (**Alt** on Windows) and drag to move the canvas rather than\n  select things.\n- **Ctrl+C** and **Ctrl+V** copy anything, including all its settings.\n- Arrow keys nudge one point at a time; hold **Shift** for five.\n- Hold **Shift** while turning something to snap to 45 degrees.\n- The arrows at the top move a shape in front of or behind others.\n- Select two things and group them so they move together.\n\n## Lock what you have finished\n\nThe object explorer — the icon with three lines at the top — lists everything\non the canvas, like layers.\n\n![The object explorer, listing the booth, a rectangle and a triangle, with the rectangle locked and the lock, hide and target icons for each](https://articles.marketspread.com/images/full-map-creation-walkthrough/02-object-explorer.png)\n\nAgainst each one you can **lock** it so you cannot drag it by accident, **hide**\nit, or click the target to bring it into view when you have lost it on a big\nmap.\n\n!!! tip \"Lock as you go\"\n    Lock each piece of the background once it is where you want it. Otherwise\n    you will drag a street halfway across the map while reaching for a booth.\n\n## Add booths\n\nA booth is not just a shape — it is the thing a vendor gets booked into.\n\nAdd one from the top and click it to open the booth inspector:\n\n![The booth inspector, with Amenities ticked, Pricing Terms open and Allowed Vendor Types — Farmer selected — below them](https://articles.marketspread.com/images/full-map-creation-walkthrough/03-booth-inspector.png)\n\n- **Name** it. It can be a number or anything else.\n- Set its **width** and **depth**, by dragging or by typing exact numbers.\n- Tick its **amenities**, such as electricity or a vehicle space. These show up\n  elsewhere in Marketspread.\n- Set **pricing terms** — what it costs by day, week, month or event series.\n- Choose which **vendor types** may book it.\n\n!!! tip \"Stop the wrong vendor booking the wrong booth\"\n    Limiting vendor types means a food truck cannot be booked into a 10x10\n    space. Set it once on the map instead of remembering it every time you\n    schedule.\n\nPricing has a lot more to it — different rates per day of the week, tags that\nfollow through to your invoices and reports. That is covered in its own\narticle.\n\n## Fill the map quickly\n\nSet one booth up exactly as you want it, then copy and paste it. Each copy\nkeeps the size, colors and prices, so you can go from one booth to sixteen in a\nfew keystrokes and just position them.\n\nFor booths that differ, set one up, select the others, click **Sync\nattributes**, choose the one you set up, and tick what to copy — **Size**,\n**Amenities**, **Attributes**, **Pricing & Types**, **Font Options** or\n**Design Options**. Then click **Perform sync**. It changes twenty booths as\neasily as two.\n\n## Save\n\n!!! important \"Save as you go\"\n    Click **Save** every so often while you work. A dropped connection loses\n    whatever you have not saved.\n\n**Save & Close** when you are done. The layout appears in your list with its\npricing name and booth count. The view icon shows it, area by area, with its\npricing underneath.\n\n**Clone** makes a copy — useful for a second version, or a scratch copy to\nexperiment on without touching the one you rely on."}
